Once again we've reached that time of year to push for checking batteries in smoke dectors, checking CO monitors but how about furnaces and chimneys? A little extra push in the area of chimney fires, furnace and chimney inspections could never hurt. My overall point is that school related incidents are not going to stop. Our mental health systems will remain dysfuntional themselves and we the emergency services will be the first contact as these tragic incindents will no doubt increase. I remember back as a kid during Fire Prevention Week, waiting for the hook and ladder truck to show up at school and have the fireman hand out pencils, balloons and give us stuff to bring home to our parents. We learned not to play with matches and crawl on the floor if your house was filled with smoke.
